Application Instructions

Applying for the Dream Award involves an online application and an in-person interview:
  1. The online application must be completed by January 14 and consists of basic contact information like your name, address, phone number and an essay portion.
  2. The on-campus interview will take place during Celebrate Scholars Day on January 23, 2027.

Application Requirements
  • Before applying for the Dream Award, you must apply for admission to Goshen College.
  • After you submit your Dream Award application, please have your high school transcript and test scores (optional this year) sent to the Admissions Office in order to confirm eligibility for this scholarship.
  • Achievement scholarships are awarded to first-year domestic students. 

Essay Questions
Below are the questions you'll respond to later in this application. They're listed here so that you have a chance to think about them before starting the application.
  1. Leadership & Community Contribution
    Detail one specific initiative where you led others, resolved a conflict, or worked to make your community better. What were your responsibilities, and what was the result? (150 word maximum)

  2. Navigating Challenges
    What is the toughest obstacle you’ve had to overcome while working toward a goal? Detail your response to the setback and the key insights you gained from the process. (150 word maximum)

  3. Core Values Reflection
    Which of Goshen College’s five core values (Christ-centeredness, passionate learning, servant leadership, compassionate peacemaking, global citizenship) resonates most deeply with you, and why? Illustrate with a concrete example from your life. (250 word maximum)
On Campus Interview
The on-campus interview will be conducted by faculty at Celebrate Scholars Day, January 23, 2027. The interview will last for approximately 10 minutes. All candidates are required to complete the interview process. If candidates are unable to attend Celebrate Scholars Day in person, they will be required to register for an alternative interview process.  More details on the event registration page. Both in-person and the alternate process requires the student to answer questions based on a certain scenario. The interview scenario and potential questions will be emailed upon registration.

Before applying for the Dream Award, you must apply for admission to Goshen College.

It is highly recommended that you compose your answers to the essay questions in a separate program like Google Docs or Notepad and then copy and paste your answers here to avoid losing your work.
